Have you ever heard the saying ” Driving for show, putting for dough” That’s why you need an Indoor putting mat UK.
The weather in the UK is terrible for the most part of the year and sometimes the only option you have is to try and get any sort of golf practice indoors that you can. Practicing your driving is difficult as most ceilings are not high enough but you can still practice your putting.
This is a simple and cost-effective way to improve your golf game. Most golf Pros will tell you, if you want to lower your scores and get a better Handicap then practice your putting.
Indoor putting mats come in all shapes and sizes and all price ranges. From as little as £9.99- £799 you can find a mat that suits your needs and doesn’t cost the earth. I practice in the living room all the time and it drives my wife mad, but It’s definitely helped my game. I’m much more confident when I’m out on the greens standing over the testing 3 footers.
What to look for when buying an indoor golf putting mat
- Build quality
- Ball return
These are the four main points with size probably being the number one concern. You don’t want to buy it and it won’t fit into your living room space. The second thing that would concern me would be the build quality. As you’re stood at one end of the putting mat for long periods of time you don’t want a mat that will wear out very quickly.
Then, you might want a ball return, it’s just easier to putt the ball and have it returned automatically to you so you can continue over and over practicing without using tons of balls. If the mat hasn’t got this feature you can buy BATTERY OPERATED PUTT BALL RETURN MACHINES units for as little as £10.39 on AMAZON.
Which one to buy?
Simply buy the size that you need and fits your space then buy the best quality one you can afford. If you’re just starting out and not sure if you will like golf yet then don’t spend a fortune. One of our favorite mates is the PGA AUGUSTA MAT pictured below which I purchased from AMAZON but it’s not cheap at £299. It’s the one I use weekly and I love it. £299 seem a lot to pay but I’ve had it 3 years now and it still looks like new. I’m sure it’s going to last me another 5 years at least. Well worth the money.
But like I say if you’re just starting out then I’d buy one of the cheaper ones. At the end of the day your still practicing your putting no matter what you practice on. I used to just practice on the living room rug, but it was a bit bumpy.
