The Lofthouse ProScope golf rangefinder was our choice for a beginner or someone on a budget. Don’t let the low price fool you on the performance.

We found this rangefinder to be lightweight, compact and comes with pin lock feature, which makes it easier to lock into the flag to get an accurate yardage. With powerful 6x magnification the Proscope is capable of measuring distances of up to 400 yards with pinpoint accuracy. Comes with carrying case, battery and microfiber lens cloth.

The Callaway fans choice

Every golfer knows the name callway and they know what callaway stands for… QUALITY

The Calaway Hybrid Golf rangefinder will be a big hit with many golfers especially those who love Callaway and own and play their clubs. This would make a great addition to their golf set.

This rangefinder uses not only the laser but also GPS that’s why it’s called a hybrid. If you can’t lock onto the flag with the laser then the GPS will give you the distances to the front, middle and back of the green.

It’s the best of both worlds, it has all the benefits of a golf laser rangefinder and all the features like a golf GPS Watch.

Read our review-Best golf GPS Watches under £150 here.

When using the laser to lock onto the flag you get a nice little curping noise to tell you that you’ve got the flag locked on for distance. So No guessing!

The only thing we found strange is that the rangefinder uses replaceable CR123 batteries but the GPS charges through a USB would have been better to all run from one power source.

This golf rangefinder had to be in our Top 5 golf rangefinder list with it being one of the only rangefinders that we could find that had both laser and GPS.

Most golfer when thinking of buying a new rangefinder will consider a Bushnell due to the fact they have been on the market for many years and are tried and tested in every situation.

We loved this rangefinder, in fact out of the four golfers we tested these rangefinders with 2 of us already owned this unit.

All rangefinders was tested at Heworth Golf club, 01/05/2018 four players of different ages and handicaps.

Bushnell Pro x2

For those of you that like the best of everything, then this is the rangefinder for you. The Bushnell Pro x2 is, without doubt, the most expensive unit we tested but to be fair it was one of the best. At over £300 you’d expect quality and performance and this golf rangefinder certainly didn’t let us down.

The main function that stood out for the extra price was the speed. The speed it could pinpoint the flag was amazing. Definitely quicker than the other models we tested on the day.

The other feature we liked was the slope function, this tells you the correct distance to the flag taking the slope into account. We didn’t realise even a small slope it adds 10 extra yards to your shot. No wonder I always miss the greens on these types of holes.  Most of Bushnell rangefinders now have this function and it’s well worth paying the extra for it.

  • Range to a flag: 450 yards
  • Dual display – 6x Magnification – Accurate to a 1/2 yard
  • Stable-grip technology – Metal battery door
  • IPX7 fully waterproof – Slope switch technology
  • Rubber armored metal housing – Legal for tournament play – 2 year warranty

Just the feel of the rangefinder in your hands tells you it’s a quality bit of kit. Every inch feels well made and will last a few drops and hits in your bag.

This was nearly number 1 in our choice but the price put us off a little. If you’re upgrading then this has to be an option for you. But if you’re just buying a rangefinder for the odd game then go for the Lofthouse proscope.

If you want a rangefinder to last you the next 5 years or longer and want a quality device then click here and buy one now.

We never thought the Nikon Coolshot 80i would be our pick of the day.

This rangefinder had everything, slope distance, pin lock on the flag, we also loved the 8-second scan feature. Basically, you can hold the button down and scan the area ie: Greenside bunkers, trees and it gives you all the distances as you scan without having to do each distance individually. Saves so much time and gives you so much more important information that just the flag distance.

It was also incredibly fast, just as fast if not better than the Bushnell Pro x2.

The shape of the rangefinder made it comfy in our hands, it was lightweight and compact.

  • 8-Second continuous measurement allows you to scan an area to find multiple distance measurements
  • Id technology displays slope-adjusted distance (horizontal distance height), enabling you to select the proper club for uphill or downhill shots
  • Nikon locked on technology provides an indicator when the closest target among a group is being measured, ensuring that the reading is the distance to the flagstick

Nikon is famous in the camera world for the quality lens and cameras so you can imagine how good the viewfinder and lens is in this unit. First class!

We thought the Bushnell Pro would get first place but this Nikon Coolshot 80I took us all by surprise and at a similar price to the Bushnell you now have a choice when it comes to the top of the range golf rangefinders.
